Gospel music icon, Don Moen, and his wife, Laura Moen, celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on Thursday, May 19th 2022.
The award-winning singer-songwriter paid an emotional tribute to his wife on their special day late on Thursday via his various verified social media handles.
71-year-old Don who is highly respected by the Nigerian Christian community shared how he married Laura after a concert in 1973 with about 1000 guests who they did not know in attendance.
“49 years ago today, I married this girl after a concert at a downtown theatre/church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We welcomed anyone in the audience to stay for the wedding if they wished.
The wedding started at 10:00 PM and we had about 1,000 people we didn’t know at our wedding! What an adventure! I’m a very blessed man, and God is so good!!! I LOVE YOU, LAURA!!!! Happy Anniversary,” he wrote.
Don and Laura endured a roller-coaster in their marriage and eventually succumbed to the pressure of some misunderstandings and conflicts when the couple decided to split from each other, according to FamouusStardom.com.
After nearly three decades together, the couple finalized their divorce in the year 2002 and none of them ever revealed the actual reason behind their divorce.
However, after 11 years of separation, the couple reunited in 2013 and have remained together ever since.
Don and Laura are happily married with five children (three daughters and two sons) but that too did not come without a tale as the couple waited until about 12 years after their marriage before they welcomed their first child, Melissa Moen.
The couple was rewarded with five children in seven years after waiting for 12 years. Melissa’s siblings are Rachel Moen, James Moen, John Moen, and Michael Moen. Don and Laura are now happy grandparents.
