Nasarawa gov appoints ex-chief judge Eggon monarch

A former Chief Judge, Justice Ahmed Ubangari has been approved as the new traditional ruler of Eggon in Nasarawa State by the Governor of the state, Abdullahi Sule.

According to Daily Post, Ubangari succeeds the late Aren Eggon, Dr. Bala Abaine-Angbazo who reigned for 41 years before his demise in July 2022.

The governor approved the monarch after receiving the report of the selection committee on Friday in Lafia, the capital.

Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Yusuf Aliyu-Turaki, presented the report.

The documents submitted include copies of the nomination papers, ballot papers, result sheets and a full report of the selection exercise.

While speaking, Governor, Sule stressed that the selection was done transparently by the village heads of Wakama, Wulgo and Aribadu, the kingmakers.

“I refused to meet any of them. I instructed all those seeking this office, about 11, to go and campaign.

“For the first time, they came here today after the election and I confirmed from them the person they selected.”

The governor also disclosed that he confirmed the result was not influenced by anyone or persons.

However, Sule presented the new Aren Eggon to the State Traditional Council of Chiefs led by the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage-Muhammad.
