Islamic clerics lament Osun Eid prayer ground clash

The Islamic clerics in South West have bemoaned the clash that occurred between some aides of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and an ex-spokesperson of the Senate, Dr. Ajibola Basiru at a Osogbo Eid prayer gound.

According to The PUNCH, the Wakeel Muslimeen, South West, Edo, and Delta states, Sheikh Iskeel Awwal while speaking to journalists on Thursday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on behalf of the religious leaders, admonished that politicians should respect religious leaders and the religious leaders should respect political leaders.

The cleric called on the governor and other politicians in the state to respect religious leaders and not to the prayed ground to battle field

Reports revealed that Bashiru and Adeleke’s aide clashed at Osogbo Eid praying ground over seating arrangements.

While reacting to the incident, the religious leaders in South West frowned at the clash in the house of God.

Wakeel Muslimeen in his statement warned that Asiwaju Adeen of Yoruba land should be respected being a Muslim leader in Yoruba land and Nigeria.

He said, “All Muslims in South West condemn what happened in Osogbo. We condemned the clash at the Eid prayer ground. They should not take politics into the Eid prayer ground or mosque.

“Politicians should respect religious leaders and the religious leaders should respect political leaders.

“They should all fear Allah and know that Allah is above everybody, be it governor or senator.”
