Gunmen kidnap Kogi monarch, kill female domestic worker

A traditional ruler in Aghara, an agrarian community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government area of Kogi State, Chief David Obadofin and one person identified as Temidayo Elewa have been abducted by suspected bandits on Tuesday.

The incident, which has left the community mourning was said to have occurred at about 3:00a.m.

It was learnt that one person identified as Toyin Onare, a domestic worker in the palace was killed in the attack.

The Kogi State police command spokesman, SP William Aya, confirmed the incident, saying the hoodlums were said to have arrived the palace around 3:00a.m.

It was gathered that the gunmen whisked the traditional ruler and Temidayo to the bush, abandoning the domestic worker in a pool of her blood. One person, however, escaped, to tell the story.

It was said that Toyin was rushed to a hospital in Kabba, headquarters of the LGA, about 35 minutes drive away where doctors confirmed her dead on arrival.

SP Aya stated further that the Commissioner of Police, Hekeem Yusuf, has deployed tactical team of officers to the area to fish out the perpetrators and rescue the victim”.

At the time of filling this report, the kidnappers have not made any contact, raising the level of apprehension among the locals.
