Place national interest above religion, Lagos cleric tells Nigerians

The Chief Shepherd of The Harvest Centre Mission, based in Ikorodu, Lagos, Prophet Wale Ojo-David, has called on Nigerians to place national interest above religious and personal interest to support the President-elect, Bola Tinubu to enhance unity of the country.

The prophet made the call during a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, noting that bitterness and selfishness are not part of scriptural standards.

NAN reported that Ojo-David, who was popular for his empirical prophecies, had in 2021 prophesied that Sen. Bola Ahmed-Tinubu would be the next president of Nigeria.

Tinubu, the forner Senator was declared winner of the Feb. 25, 2023 Presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission. However, the victory is being contested by other candidates in court.

Ojo-David urged Nigerians to desist from bitterness and lay credence to the legitimacy of the mandate on Tinubu, while criticizing the ongoing litigation against the President-elect.

The spiritual leader of the Harvest Centre Mission explained that part of the divine mandate of the president-elect was to render cohesive leadership to Nigeria and Africa for the continent’s development and liberation.

He added thst God does not choose leaders based on man’s antecedents but on variables that suit His purpose at every given time.

“Leaders are chosen by God; it behoves us to harness the grace of God readily available to us as people of God to envelope our leaders in prayer for them not to derail from God’s mandate to them.

“Our national interest and well-being should be above sectional, religious and personal interest which seems to be playing out now while disunity, hate and sensational talks tends to crack our social fabrics.

“Selfishness, bitterness and distrust is unholy and not part of Godliness that we should crave for in our relationship with others,” he said.
