Osun monarch to confer Jagunmolu chieftaincy title on former chief of staff

A traditional ruler in Osun State, the Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Lawal, will confer the title of “Jagunmolu” of Ede land on Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd), former Chief of Army Staff.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee, in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Professor Tajudeen Akanji disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria.

The coronation will take place on June 7 as part of activities lined up to mark the 15th Coronation Anniversary of the Royal Father. Akanji, saying that Gen. Dambazau’s impressive contribution to the development and growth of the society earned him the prestigious title hoping that he will sustain the tempo of his service to humanity.

“He was chosen for this prestigious role due to his significant contributions to the nation and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.

“As the Barade of Kano, Dambazau has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication to public service and his appointment as the Jagunmolu of Ede Land further attests to his esteemed reputation and influence in the community,” he said.

NAN reported that the nomination of the Timi of Ede land was announced on January 15. 2008.
