A renowned Pastor and best-selling author, Max Lucado, has revealed why he practices speaking in tongues everyday.
Lucado who pastors at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, said that despite growing up in church, he did not learn much about the Holy Spirit.
Only at age 64 that he said as he was praying, he began to pray in tongues.
He said “I had not done anything different, except I came across the passage where the Apostle Paul said, ‘Eagerly desire the spiritual gifts’…I prayed that every morning for two or three weeks. And then one morning, early in the morning, I began praying in a heavenly language.”
According to christianheadlines.com, the author expressed that he “was invited even to receive the gift of praying in tongues.” He noted that he was willing to receive the gift at the time, “but nothing happened.” He added that he was not truly following God at the time and later returned to his “old ways.”
Although he believed that he had received the Holy Spirit but since he got the personal encounter he continually practices it.
“I am more convinced than ever that if I say, ‘Heavenly Father, should I say yes to this or no?’ And then I sit quietly for a few moments, I will have an answer surface in my mind. And I follow that.”
“I think a childlike faith is really the soil in which the seeds of the Holy Spirit are best sown. A childlike faith that says, ‘Whatever you want to give me,” he added.
He enjoined pastors to grow in their relationship with the Holy Spirit in order to receive His gifts.
