VIDEO: Serena Williams gets Jehovah Witness baptism

Recently retired tennis legend, Serena Williams, is living up to her word of taking her faith seriously, by returning to be baptized as a Jehovah Witness.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, experienced a significant occasion on Sunday when she was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Safe to note, in an interview with Vogue in 2017, she said; “Being a Jehovah’s Witness is important to me, but I’ve never really practiced it and have been wanting to get into it.”

Recall that Serena, who announced her departure from the court in September of last year, has previously expressed her desire to put her family and faith first after exiting the game.

Black Enterprise reported that Serena and her sister, Venus, were brought up as Jehovah’s Witnesses, but the 41-year-old mother never truly lived up to that in her adult life.

She has, however, recently returned to her faith, now with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, and their five-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

“Alexis didn’t grow up going to any church, but he’s really receptive and even takes the lead. He puts my needs first.”

The mother of one is renowned for her exceptional performance over the course of a career spanning more than two decades, earning 23 grand slam titles, the second-most of all time and the most of any player in the open era.
