The Muslim Rights Concern has called for the Senate President to go to the Southern Christian urging all Muslims contesting the post to step down in order to encourage peace and development in the Nigeria.

The Executive Director of the group,,Prof. Ishaq Akintola made this call in a statement on Wednesday.

He stressed that as a major stakeholder in the affairs of Nigeria, they understand the dispute emanated from Muslim-Muslim ticket and how it ended in Nigeria having a Muslim President-elect and a Muslim Vice President-elect.

He said, “In view of this outcome and considering the multi-religious character of our dear country, Nigeria, it is our considered opinion that the post of senate president should go to a Southern Christian.”

Akintola said Nigeria needs the cooperation of both Muslims and Christians, noting that only such collaboration can promote peace and progress in the country.

He held the view that Muslims should not occupy all the top posts despite being the majority group in the country.

He sated that Muslims must be ready to share power with their Christian compatriots.
