A Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Elisha Abbo, has described the move of the All Progressives Congress to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election as a slap on the face of the Christian community in Nigeria.

APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, had on Sunday, announced a Muslim and former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate and a horde of criticisms had trailed his decision.

Reacting on Wednesday while speaking on AIT, the senator said the “competence” claim of Tinubu for picking his running mate who is a Muslim like himself is not tenable.

“The reason why they have gone ahead to have a ticket like this is because they want Nigerians to talk about this while forgetting to ask questions about competence, accountability and others,” Abbo stated.

He also added that the Muslim-Muslim ticket is a slap on the Christian community.

The All Progressives Congress stated, “For Tinubu to have said he picked a Muslim Muslim ticket because of competence is a slap on the Christian community.0

“Do you mean there is no competent Christian in the north, he (Tinubu) should come forward and apologise,” he added.
