Lagos monarch jailed 15 years for faking kidnap

Lagos teens remanded over RCCG pastor's murder

The deposed Baale of Shangisha in the Magodo area of Lagos State, Mutiu Ogundare, has been sentenced to a 15-year-jail term.

According to Daily Post, the traditional ruler who was charged with faking his kidnapping and breaching of peace was sentenced on Tuesday.

Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on July 13, 2022, suspended the Baale over a kidnap incident.

After five years, Justice Hakeem Oshodi of Ikeja High Court sentenced Ogundare, having convicted him of a two-count bordering on breach of peace in the state and fake kidnapping.

Also jailed for the same prison term was his brother, Opeyemi Mohammed.

The court, however, set his wife Abolanle, free, having earlier absolved her of the charges earlier levelled against her.
