Ibadan Mogaji stripped of title for abusing high chief

A title holder from the Mogaji Kosoko Family, Waheed Kosoko, has been stripped of his title in Ibadan.

According to the reports, Kosoko, who was alleged to have abused an high chief, Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola, was also instructed never to parade himself as a ‘mogaji’ in Ibadan again.

This was disclosed through a press statement signed by secretary of the Olubadan Advisory Council, Kamorudeen Laisu.

The letter reads in part, “The attention of Kabiyesi Olubadan of Ibadanland has been drawn to the acts of mischief, insubordination, use of abusive language as well as a threat to the life of Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Barrister Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola by you.

“These acts are contrary to and punishable under the Chiefs Law. Aside, sources further disclosed that you are in possession of two different letters of appointment appointing you as (i) Mogaji Kosoko Family and (ii) Mogaji Kosoko Onilabu family, both dated 9th January 2017 while records from this office show your appointment as Mogaji Kosoko Family and not Onilabu Family.

“Your acts, which the Council viewed as forgery and misleading. In effect, therefore, the Council at its meeting held on Monday 19th December 2022 resolved that your appointment as Mogaji Kosoko Family is hereby revoked, that the letter dated 9th January 2017 or any letter purportedly appointing you as Mogaji Kosoko is hereby withdrawn, and declared as Null and Void.

“That you should stop parading yourself in the community as Mogaji Kosoko Family forthwith”, the letter added just as it enjoined him to adhere strictly to the directives by the council as any violation would not be condoned.”
