An unnamed 28-year-old man has recounted how he lost his wife to the cold hands of death due to false prophecy and prayers (Ise) from a Celestial Church Of Christ parish.
The young man disclosed this on Twitter after an investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo posted a tweet on Wednesday, stating, “how fake prophecy by one of the #prophetsoftheirpockets at Celestial Church Of Christ led to an avoidable death.”
The victim, after fighting intently with prayers and 1.3m naira on Ovarian cancer treatment to save her, eventually lost his wife.
The deceased, who was 22-year-old in August 2020 when the incident happened, was told a prophecy in the CCC to pay 55k for prayer recessions against calamities without considering medical attention.
The victim said,”…I paid the 55k requested, I think for ISE(prayer) after a month or so I went to see Wifey and she wasn’t getting better and I decided to move her to the general hospital where she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, in about 5 months, I spent more than 1.3million treating baby but it was too late, she died leaving me with my beautiful young kids…”
He continued that he almost committed suicide after the incident as he has been battling depression and dilemma which made him lose his job and as a result has lost trust in churches in Nigeria but not in God.
“This is my story,” He said.
