The Emir of Dutse, Nuhu Muhammed Sanusi II has been reportedly dead.
The former Chancellor of Sokoto State University and a first-class traditional ruler in the North Western region of Nigeria was said to have died after a brief illness.
However, the Jigawa State Governor, Muhammed Badadu has expressed his condolences on the death of the late traditional ruler.
In a letter, issued by the State Governor, the late traditional ruler was described as a true leader and a respected figure in the community, who is known for his wisdom, compassion, and dedication to the well-being of his people.
The late Emir’s contribution to the growth and development of Dutse as well as his positive impact on his community, were further appreciated by the Governor.
While appreciating the late Emir’s impact on his people and the society at large, Badadu also prayed that Almighty Allah will be with his family, loved ones and fill the vacuum he left behind.
According to the Governor, while appreciating the late Emir for many lives he touched while alive, he stated that several people will miss him for his kindness and love for the humanity, the Governor noted that his legacy will leave on.
In his prayer for the late Emir, Badaru said, “may the soul of the late Emir rest in peace and may the memories of his life bring comfort and solace to those he leaves behind.”
Emir Sanusi obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Ohio University, USA, in 1972 and 1974 respectively, and another Master’s degree from Bradford University, UK, in 1977.
He was elected a member of Nigeria’s Constituent Assembly in 1989 and was
awarded the prestigious national honour of Commander of the Order of Niger, CON, in addition to an honorary Doctorate by the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State.
Before ascending the exalted throne, Dr. Sanusi had acquired substantial experience in agricultural consultancy and management of complex industrial projects around the continents.
Beside his passion for traveling, Emir Sanusi had presented cerebral papers at national and international seminars and has written several books, including his autobiography and the highly insightful History of Dutse.
He was a first-class traditional ruler and a Chancellor of Sokoto State University.
