Chieftaincy title: Ganduje is our in-law, Olubadan replies Igboho

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has berated Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo aka Igboho, for condemning the conferment of chieftaincy titles on Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and his wife, Hafsat, over the weekend.

In a video days back, Igboho, said that the monarch shouldn’t be conferring titles on those hurting the Yoruba race.

However, the palace spokesperson, Oladele Ogunsola, while reacting on behalf of Olubadan said that while Igboho had a right to his opinions, he must accept the fact that other people may do things they considered “helpful to Yoruba cause.”

Ogunsola said, “It must be placed on record that the present Olubadan is too refined to be seeking for who to honour with chieftaincy title for whatever purpose. But, when a case was made for the Kano State first couple by the Yoruba community in the ancient Kano city through their head, Alhaji Muritala Alimi Otisese and the adduced reasons were considered on their merit, Kabiyesi gave his consent.”

The palace spokesperson went on to highlight that Ganduje is building an auditorium at the University Of Ibadan, and travelled down to intervene in the crisis that took place at Sasa Market years back.

He added that Ganduje and his wife were their in-laws in Ibadan, as Idris, the son of the late Oyo governor, Abiola Ajimobi, married Ganduje’s daughter, Fatima.
