2023: Christian elders endorse Peter Obi for presidency

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Gregory Peter Obi has been endorsed by the National Christian Elders Forum, as its presidential candidate for the coming election, in Nigeria.

The forum, which is being headed by the former minister of defence, General Theophilus Danjuma, officially endorsed Mr Obi through a statement issued on by the forum on Tuesday February 21, 2023.

In its statement, the forum noted that after many years of corrupt system, incompetence, and bad leadership, the country has witnessed in the past, this is the right time to change the narratives, by voting for equity, justice and inclusiveness in order to build a better future for the country.

The statement reads: “In view of the need to ensure that democracy survives in Nigeria and the culture of corruption, incompetency, lawlessness, and impunity, which assailed the country in the past 24 years is eradicated, NCEF encourages Nigerians to think new.

“Nigeria requires new leaders, new methods, new policies, and new political parties. In view of the above for equity, justice, inclusiveness, and unity to produce the preferred future for Nigerians.

“The National Christian Elders Forum is endorsing Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party as the Presidential candidate to be voted for.

“NCEF encourages all Nigerians of voting age to exercise their civic duty and ensure that they vote for capacity, competency, integrity, and good health. Nigerians, think new

The National Christian Elders Forum was inaugurated on January 15 2015, by the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Ayo Oritsejafor.

It held a two-day Retreat in Abuja on 5th and 6th February and all the Christian blocs in Nigeria were represented at the Retreat.

Building up to the 2019 elections in Nigeria, the forum raised an alerm that there was a plan to islamise Nigeria, and this caused a lot of controversy in the country.

However, the Forum has stated before now, that the political situation of the country would be well studied before an agreement can be reached on who to pitch the tent of their support for, and up till when the forum issued an official statement, showing its support for Peter Obi, it has not shown support for any Presidential Candidate in the coming 2023 elections, in the country.
