Olubadan marks first anniversary, expresses hope for Nigeria

The traditional ruler in Ibadan the capital of Oyo State, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, marked one year on the throne on Saturday March 11, asked Nigerians to be patient that is hope for a better Nigeria.

While expressing optimism for a better Nigeria, the monarch told the people to be patient with the government, “as everything is being done to ensure the current hardship is addressed.”

He mad this disclosure in a statement made a available to journalists by his Personal Assistant, Media, Oladele Ogunsola at his Alarere home in celebration of his first anniversary on the throne of Olubadan.

He admitted the suffering Nigerians are currently facing caused by the naira redesign policy.

Oba Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan, was installed and presented with the staff of office on March 11, 2022 by Governor Seyi Makinde, after the demise of his predecessor, Oba Saliu Adetunji, on January 2nd of the same year.

He commended Nigerians for their steadfastness, saying it’s sustaining power of the country.

He said, “I salute our people for their resilience and perseverance, which are anchored on hope for a better and greater future. Nigerians don’t give up. This is why we always get out better and stronger of any situation, however tough or difficult it may be.

“We are going to realize that bright and beautiful hope just with a little bit of patience. Last month’s presidential election, which was held peacefully across the country with a winner declared already, was a function of our hope in the country and it is certain that the hope will not be a misplaced one.”
